  3. Support Workforce Development: Build the capacity and skills of professionals and the systems that support them to maximize child safety, permanency, and well-being.
Purpose Statements
CalAcademies design and deliver workforce development services such as instructor-led training, coaching, simulation, eLearning, technical assistance and capacity building to equip California’s child welfare workforce and leaders to meet the needs of children and families involved with public child welfare agencies.

CalEval empowers partners with a network of data technologies, resources, and processes that builds their capacities to continuously engage with, learn from, and ultimately use data in decisions to advance the shared vision and mission of CalWISE.

California Child Welfare Training (CACWT) streamlines the delivery of state-standardized and ADAaccessible training for audiences working with children and families, while also serving as a master training curriculum & content repository and system of record for training history, enabling real-time analytical reporting.

The California Title IV-E Education Program (Cal IV-E) equips social work graduates with the knowledge and skills to provide competent and compassionate child welfare services.

The Child Welfare Learning and Evaluation Bureau (CWLEB) is dedicated to strengthening the child welfare workforce and advancing system accountability to ensure the safety, permanency, and well-being of children and families. By fostering strategic partnerships with Tribes and statewide stakeholders, the Bureau enhances the capacity of child welfare professionals and probation placement officers through comprehensive training, education, and resource management.
The California Workforce Innovation, Support, and Education (CalWISE) program embraces a partnership model to strengthen and develop the statewide child welfare workforce through data-informed education, training, and support initiatives.

CalWISE brings together universities, training experts, evaluators, professional development systems, and other specialists to support the statewide child welfare workforce. Led by the Child Welfare Learning and Evaluation Bureau with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), this partnership will strengthen workforce pathways, foster statewide collaboration and innovation, and support workforce development. The CalWISE partners have spent the last six months laying a foundation for the future of child welfare workforce development in California (click here to view the Vision, Mission, Values, Priorities, and Purpose Statements). In the next six months a logo will be developed and a website will be launched to provide a single location for tools and resources that support the mission of CalWISE.
